Inspired by Yuko Shimazawa’s articles during my research about Japan’s youths sports scenes, I decided to meet her to hear more about the issues. She guided me to hear the unimaginable hard reality that Tsubasa’s family faced due to the severe power harassment and corporal punishment done by Tsubasa’s high school volleyball coach. The practice of "taibatsu," or corporal punishment, has deep roots in Japan's education system.
